Tutorial
I started the production of the video by doing the tutorial that was outlined in the brief.
I set up the project settings as instructed by tutor Kevin White.
The files were located in the folder he gave to us. The folder had the assets, original video and a tutorial video which was used as a reference.
I started exporting the assets into Premiere and setting them up on the timeline
I had to closely follow the video to get timing as close as possible. First thing I did was watch the video and put visuals along on the timeline to make my job easier and not confuse myself with the audio at that point.
I renamed the layers to make my job easier and keep things nicely organised, I split them into: Title,Stills,Video,Voice and Music.
So each part would look neat and I could find issues quickly within the footage.

After I finished editing video with stills and video footage I started moving onto making of the titles.
After adding the titles I unliked audio from below the video footage and deleted all of the uneeded audio so only the video footage is left. Then I brought the narration and began to start trying to sync it while watching the original video. It was really challenging to sync it as close as possible to the footage. But in the end I managed to do it.
After the narration was ready I had to move onto editing the music, I had to cut out the specific bits from the song given and put it together so it worked with the original video. I used the cut tool and listened to original and the music file to find the moment that needed to be separated from the rest. Then I deleted the excess music track and started to sync it with the video. I had to listen video over and over again to get it as close as I could. I was changing the timing on some scenes to get the result I did.
The thing I have left to finish last were the video effects. I had to find an effect that fits the one that was used a lot in the video.
The one I ended up using was the cross disolve.
I encountered an issue while using this because, the way I had separated my layers with stills, I couldn't use the cross disolve properly because there was nothing inbetween the transitions in the video layer. I asked tutor how to fix it and he told me to extend the still image a bit to create similar effect and it did work. The last scene I had to create a zoom in. I did it with the Effect Control bar, I created keyframes of the zoom in and premiere did the inbetweens. The last effect I used was fade to black to end the Video. I exported the video using the H264 codek, the HD preset and mobile friendly Youtube480p preset.
Slow Video
I started off by creating a new Sequence instead of the project, that way I kept all my previous settings the same, so I didn't have to set it up all from the start. I decided to use the same assets as tutorial video's but with different music. I decided to pick a classical piece. "Bach-Cello Suite No.1 i-Prelude. I began doing it by taking all the video pieces from the assets and assigning them and picking which ones I'd use and which ones I leave aside. The ones I decided to keep I had to edit, and cut the bit worse parts of them.
I was placing the pieces of video while listening to the music on Youtube, I was listening it over and over again to get the proper feel of the music, I was changing a lot of the footage bits and some parts were done completely differently than at first. Once I was done with the visuals I brought in the music into the frame. I asked tutor for the feedback on the piece, he thought some of the bits worked and other were desynced. He told me the audience should not see the bits of visuals that have nothing happening for too long because it makes it look bit weird and not very interesting. He suggested to me that slowing down of the footage might work and help the video be more fluid. I tried it out and the video became much more readable and nicer to watch, and the bits that were not syncing started to sync.
The lesser value you put the slower the video becomes, the higher the value the faster the video becomes. I finished the video by adding the video transitions and fade to black at the end and synching it with the music.
I exported the video using the H264 codek, the HD preset and mobile friendly Youtube480p preset.
Fast Video
I created a new sequence keeping all the settings the same. I looked on the internet for the new footage because I wanted to do something different than the eagles. I looked up animation highlights from my favourite series Yu-gi-oh!, I downloaded it from youtube and 720p because the 1080p version wouldn't work. I also downloaded the music to go with it "Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V Opening 3 Full (Instrumental Version)". I've imported the files into premiere and had to match my sequence settings to those of the video otherwise it wouldn't look really good. I began cutting parts of the video that I felt were more energetic than the other which would make the video flow nicer. I was getting rid of the parts of the video that were not fitting for the fast video. After I assembled all the footage I thought was fitting most for the video and began to rearrange it. Once I had footage that was most fitting for the video I began editing the music, I was cutting parts of it and was looking for that one best part for the audio. I ended up with 3 different ones and ended up getting the correct one. After I got my audio I began syncing it with the visuals. I used the technique I learned earlier and sped up some parts of the video that were too slow. I did not use many effects except for fade to black at the end of the video and an effect that would lower the music as its ending to sync with the fade to black.*
*(I wanted to take screengrabs for this part of the project but the codecs were missing.)
